Skyrim Beginner Guide: How to Survive

Most people in the world regularly enjoy accessing video games and this is because when it comes to interactivity, they are unmatched. Video games simply possess a level of immersion that is hard to replicate and even TV shows and movies can’t quite reach this level. This is why the video game industry is so big and continues to grow year after the year. There are also many other industries in entertainment that experience similar growth annually, such as gambling. The abundance of online casinos has meant that more people than ever are gambling from their homes and interested players can find some more great options here.

There are many different genres within gaming, but when it comes to pure immersion, there is no doubt that RPGs are simply the best at doing this. This is because most RPGs feature handcrafted worlds that have been given years of time and love by the developers that create them. The result is a living, breathing world that players can sink hours of their time into. The fact that RPGs let players roleplay as someone else also contributes to the sense of escapism that many will feel when they play these games. One of the best examples of a game that does all this excellently is Skyrim, the fifth instalment of The Elder Scrolls series.

Within the gaming community, Skyrim is regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time and it is hard to disagree with this notion considering the game has sat comfortably on the bestselling games of all-time list since it came out back in 2011. Those who have yet to play Skyrim are in for a treat as there is no doubt it is one of the best games of all time, but many beginners will be hoping for some advice to survive the first couple of hours of the game.

Difficulty settings

While there is a stigma regarding changing the difficulty settings, those who are new to gaming might benefit from turning the difficulty down. On the other hand, most seasoned gamers will be fine on the default setting. In Skyrim, changing the difficulty only adds or reduces a damage multiplier, so it isn’t as advanced as most games. Still, those who are having a hard time shouldn’t feel ashamed to turn it down if that will improve their enjoyment.

The early game can be especially brutal, especially for those beginners who have no idea what they are doing. Fortunately, Skyrim has a follower system, and players can use allies as a shield by allowing enemies to focus their attention on them. The quickest way to get a follower at the start of the game is to go to Riverwood and speak to Sven or Faendal.

Many new players ignore crafting when they first start playing but focusing on this element of the game allows players to get incredible weapons, potions and enchantments which can make the game a breeze to get through. However, players should also focus on levelling up combat skills too, or they risk enemies being significantly over levelled and too tough for the player to defeat.

Skyrim is one of the best gaming experiences that people will have, and those who utilise some of these tips will get the best start to the game possible.
